Hi Everyone!
Such a whirl of activity around here--it's really got
my antlers in a spin! We're getting ready to go to Switzerland on Thursday,
but the Pollys suddenly realized that they would be out of the country
on St. Patrick's Day (March 17). Do they celebrate St. Patrick's Day
in Switzerland? I don't know! So they decided to celebrate a few days
early. We got into the van and went to Coleman's Irish restaurant. It
was a really fun place. On the way there the Pollys showed me the only
traffic light in the world where the GREEN is on top! Here's a picture!
A VERY long time ago a lot of Irish families lived
in this section of the city, called Tipperary Hill. In those days,
there was a regular old "red on top" traffic light there. Some of
the boys didn't like seeing any color on top of the Irish green,
so they used to throw stones to break the red light. This was a
bad thing to do of course, because people could have gotten hurt
if there had been an accident because the lights weren't working.
But the boys didn't think of that. Anyway, after replacing the light
a few times, the city gave up and ordered a "Green on top" traffic
light. It has been there ever since. Those boys are old men now.
Every year they ride in a special car in the St. Patrick's day parade. |

Anyway, we finally got to the restaurant. http://www.colemansirishpub.com/index.htm
Here's a photo of the outside. See the Irish flag? The Pollys
used the big door, but I was able to use the special door JUST
FOR LEPRECHAUNS! See the sign? Can you see the lucky shamrock
on the door?

Inside there was lots of Irish music and loads
of food. I had a root beer and a giant corned beef sandwich. Check
out my cool hat and vest!!!!

After dinner, the Pollys went to get the car while
I waited inside. I noticed a special bench just for leprechauns
to wait for their taxicabs to pull up. But I didn't see any leprechauns
around, so I sat right down. I waved at people as they left. Boy,
were they surprised to see me there! |
How is everyone there?????
Did the tulips come up yet?
Love, Monty the Moose
