While this section of the website is very small at the moment,
it is the start to our "library" research on keeping
animals in the classroom. All members are encouraged to contribute
pertinent information as they come across it. Any members who
have written research papers on this subject are invited to contribute
articles or excerpts. This website often receives requests for
verification or "proof" of the benefits of classroom
pets. This is usually in relation to sad stories of teachers
being denied permission to bring in animals. Furthermore, how
many of us actually know what the exact legalities of our schools,
districts, or provinces/states are with respect to introducing
children to animals? How many of us are aware of the local regulations
regarding wild "visitors" or imported exotic species?
I hope that this webpage will begin to address some of these
issues and make us all more aware as pet-keeping educators. |
